Our Story

Where it all began

Our story started back in high school, in a 10th-grade gym class where Luke first noticed Rebecca — and thought she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. At the time, we were just acquaintances, but everything changed in our 11th-grade year.

One night at a mutual friend’s get-together, we finally began talking… and the connection was instant. We spent the whole evening lost in conversation, and from that night on, we were inseparable. School lunches turned into daily hangouts, laughter became our language, and we quickly realized we had found both our best friend and the love of our life.

On September 27th, 2018, Luke officially asked Rebecca to be his girlfriend — a moment that marked the beginning of a love we both knew was meant to last. We fell for each other hard, and we’ve been laughing, growing, and choosing each other every day since.

Over the years

From the very beginning, our journey has been side by side. We graduated high school together, landed our first jobs together, and even started university as a team. When the world slowed down during COVID, we moved in together — and our bond only deepened.

Soon after, we took a leap of faith and founded Hispir Care, which has since grown into one of Calgary’s largest aide agencies supporting children with disabilities. Building a business and a life together has shown us that there’s nothing we can’t face hand in hand.

Along the way, adventure has been at the heart of our story. It began with a two-month road trip across Canada right after graduation and continued with travels to Mexico, family visits in Taiwan, and countless shared memories in between.

Looking back, we’ve truly grown up together — from the kids we once were to the adults we’ve become. Through every milestone, hardship, and joy, our love has remained pure, true, and ever-growing.

Our Engagement

On the morning of July 16th, 2025, our love story took its next chapter at the edge of Lake Minnewanka. The air was calm, the water was still, and Rebecca thought we were simply stopping for a few photos on our drive to Penticton. Luke had other plans.

What Rebecca didn’t know was that Luke had arranged for an engagement photographer to be waiting at the lake. When he asked the “stranger” to snap a picture of us, Rebecca smiled for the camera — completely unaware that the real moment was about to begin. Luke dropped to one knee, looked up with the words he had been holding onto for years, and asked her to marry him.

For a moment, Rebecca was utterly speechless… until she quickly gathered herself with an enthusiastic “Of course!” The world seemed to pause as we celebrated, just the two of us, before sharing laughter, happy tears, and a photoshoot to capture it all.

From there, our road trip became a celebration in motion. We checked into a cozy suite in Revelstoke, soaking in the joy and excitement of officially starting our forever together. It was the perfect beginning to the rest of our lives — a moment of love, laughter, and the sweetest surprise.
